Poeta y novelista inglés. Durante la mayor parte de su vida, Peacock trabajó para la East India Company. Fue un amigo muy cercano de Percy B. Shelley, amistad en la que encontró una importante fuente de inspiración para su escritura. Sus mejores poemas están intercalados en sus novelas, que se centran en la conversación de sus personajes y satirizan las corrientes intelectuales de su época. Su obra más conocida, Nightmare Abbey [La mansión de las pesadillas] (1818), satiriza la melancolía romántica e incluye personajes inspirados en Shelley, Samuel Taylor Coleridge y Lord Byron.
